Evaluation

The brief had stated to try and make a 30 second video about a character walking to a room where the second character would meet and talk. This wasn't followed as it was  conversation. However instead more of a short scene from a film. The shot list was used throughout as it was used to film the scenes. The script was only used for dialogue. And the story board was created just after the filming which would show its accuracy to the actual preliminary. I could've participated more in the preliminary if Alan had allowed us to help or come up with ideas. However in future, I'd like to ensure that the task follows the brief for next time.

The panning shot that pans to the motionless body acts as an establishing shot as it is presenting the location of where the protagonist has been. The clip also adds scenes which cut in randomly to present distortion in the scene as though we were put in the steps of the protagonist. The close up of the watch had also been important as it would signify that this is an important feature to the narrative. There is also a medium shot of the two characters as they approach the protagonist which could suggest to the audience that they are against the protagonist. The strengths would be that the film uploaded above has been narrative lead in comparison to Alan's version which had more effects which had made it less favoured as a majority of the comments in the clip has said that this clip would be seen as more effects heavy. However, since the one that Aarun and Akash had edited didn't have any effects as this could be why this video was more favoured. Other strengths could also include the overall camera work as a majority of the scenes had been shot quite well. It had a cinematic touch which may have made it more enjoyable to an audience to watch. The end scene with Aarun's character bending his neck and the camera turning rapidly had given a moment of suspense as it could leave viewers with enigmas such as will he survive or what he will do.

The weaknesses are that during a majority of the production, I didn't entirely participate a lot in the editing. In future, I'd like to try and make sure that I participate in more in the editing as I would like to try and make sure that I would have at least had some recent experience with Premier Pro rather than watching and talking to Aarun about the preliminary. Although I had praised the distortion,it also made it unclear for the audience to hear the dialogue so therefore it would be harder for them to understand what the narrative would be like. As previously mentioned, one of the most important weaknesses was that the brief. For instance, Match on action, Shot reverse Shot, and the 180 degree rule weren't used throughout the whole clip this could also suggest as to why it had a rating of 4/10 as it had gone overtime as this had specifically asked for a "30 second video".
